Silver Star offers world class skiing and snowboarding runs in a picturesque family orientated mountain village There's a charming magic about Silver Star ski resort. The village area is a bit like a mini Disneyland, and the resort is perfect for a family ski holiday. Part of the charm of Silver Star comes from the incredibly friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. Strong intermediate skiers and snowboarders in particular will love the Silver Star ski terrain. The resort also caters well to beginners, and for experts there is some black and double black terrain out the back in the Putnam Creek area. This area will definitely challenge any hardcore enthusiast, but for expert skiers there are probably better resorts to visit. Silver Star is located in Okanagan Valley, 22 km northeast of Vernon in British Columbia, Canada. There are various shuttle services to and from Kelowna International Airport. Big White ski resort is not far away and is easily accessed via shuttle bus. The location of Silver Star is ideal, as it is close enough to the coast to still get the high snowfalls and relatively mild temperatures, yet it is far enough east to produce light dry powder. The Silver Star village is very unique, very colourful, and looks like it is from a film set. It's sort of quaint but also sort of garish – we'll let you form your own opinion. The pedestrian-only village is mid-mountain so it is conveniently ski-in ski-out, and it's very compact so there's no fear of getting lost. It only has a few restaurants, shops and resort facilities such as equipment rental. There are also a couple of pubs, but this mountain is not party central and has a reasonably quiet nightlife. Some of the Silver Star accommodations are centred around the village, but there are also sprawling groups of houses, many of these at the top of the Silver Queen chair. A number of the condos and lodges are ski-in ski-out, or at least ski-out. At Silver Star there's a focus on family with lots of activities for the children and organised events such as fireworks, movie nights, family bingo and carnival nights. It's easy to see why Silver Star has won various awards for being the best family resort. This isn't just a great holiday destination for the little folk though. Grown ups will love it, and those of us that haven't quite grown up yet will also enjoy it.
