The highlands of APPI Kogen sit right next to the Towada-Hachimantai National Park in northeast Honshu.  Each winter season amazing powder covers all of APPI's 828-meter (2716.5-ft) vertical from peak to base.  The 21 trails at APPI Kogen are easily and comfortably accessible by two eight-person gondolas and three high-speed, detachable, hooded quad chairs.

There's also a lot of variety at APPI Kogen - from beginner bunny slopes to a 5.5-km (3.4-mi) cruiser to steep and deep!

APPI Kogen is one of the most well-known resorts in the Tohoku region and continues to be a mecca for skiers and boarders alike.

Appi Kogen is one of the best quality ski resorts in Japan and has been labelled the St Moritz or Aspen of Japan.

Appi Kogen Ski and Snowboard Terrain:  The 282 hectare ski area is below the tree line and has 21 slopes and 828 metres of vertical. Appi Kogen is very proud of its long runs with 12 of the 21 runs being longer than 2km, and the longest being 5.5km. These lengthy runs are well renowned for the pure fall line skiing they offer – perfect for some major schussing at Mach 1.

The grooming is a highlight of Appi Kogen. It’s obvious that the groomed runs are a strong point of the resort considering that they measure the amount of snow fall AFTER they’ve smoothed it down!

Powderhounds will also be kept ‘appi because the resort does well in the snowfall stakes with an average of 8 metres of “aspirin powder” per season (after it’s squashed down!), and most of the slopes are north facing which is advantageous for the snow conditions.

Appi Kogen has recently received top marks from a number of major ski magazines, and continues to be a popular choice for skier and snowboarder alike.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
