A chic ski resort with amazing scenery and superb skiing

Madonna di Campiglio is one of Italy's most sought after ski resorts. A favourite with the chic and stylish, it offers challenging and varied skiing amidst the spectacular Dolomites, and a lively Italian village atmosphere. Nestled in the majestic valley between Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Amdamello and Presanella, this beautiful town is today considerd to be Italy's number one ski resort. An efficient lift system opens up an extensive ski area that connects this resort with nearby Marilleva and Folgarida providing many tree-lined pistes. In the village there is a large natural skating rink, many chic shops and even a theatre. There are also numerous restaurants, cafés and bars, many of which cluster around lively Piazza Righi. Resort attractions include the Tre World Cup Slalom in December, the Winter Marathon antique car racing on ice in January and the Habsburg Carnival in February.

Due to Madonna di Campiglio's high altitude and excellent snow record with extensive terrain to suit all abilities, a ski holiday is this resort offers a more laid back approach with lift queues almost unheard of. Beginners should try the excellent nursery slopes of Campo Carlo Magno and the wide gently sloping runs found further up around Monte Spinde and Groste. Intermediates will get a lot of mileage from your lift pass on the cruisy runs around Pardalago and Groste and if your keen to explore further afield, you can head to Folgardia and Marilleva for a host of tree-lined runs. For the experts and advanced skiers, you will find the black runs steep and challenging, which can be found on the Spinale Diretta, Amazonia and 3-Tre World cup run. There is also plenty of opportunity for off-piste adventure as well. Snowboarders will absolutely love this resort. As well as hosting several of the big boarding events, Madonna di Campiglio has plenty od terrain to keep all levels of the keen snowboarder occupied including an awesome half-pipe and fun park.
