"Cheap as Chips" European ski destination

To those who are not already familiar with it, The Czech Republic has a surprisingly large number of ski areas with more than 100 to choose from dotted all around the country, including many within easy reach of the German border or the historic and vibrant capital city of Prague.

Although skiing is generally located at relatively low altitudes compared to the Alps to the south, between 700 metres to 1300 metres above sea level, most resorts have a good snow record with the support of increasingly sophisticated snow making networks, allowing them to be able to offer good quality skiing, accommodation and aprés ski.

Czech Republic's largest and most well-known ski resort is Špindleruv Mlýn, located in the heart of the 'Giant Mountains'.  This resort has direct access to 26 kilometres of downhill skiing, with 21 individual pistes, served by 16 ski lifts.

Although Australians are a novelty on the ski fields of Czech Republic, it's a far cheaper option than other European skiing destinations, including the French, Swiss and Italian Alps, as well as providing terrain  far better then anything you will find here in Australia.

This "cheap as chips" ski destination also offers miles of cross country skiing, sleding and tobogganing.
