Like many Austrian resorts Saalbach-Hinterglemm is a beautiful, traditional-style village with an exciting nightlife. This magnificent ski area is renowned for its excellent range of pistes and efficient lift system, connecting Saalbach to Hinterglemm and Leogang. On powder days you'll also find tremendous off piste areas through the trees, and you are bound to find local guides eager to show you the way. Saalbach's slopes resemble a French resort more than a traditional Austrian one, with the added advantage of excellent traditional mountain restaurants dotted around as well as being a renowned party area with apres ski starting early from 3 pm until the early hours of the morning.

As one of the great ski circuts in the Alps, there is terrain to suit all levels on a ski holiday in Saalbach, however it does have a tendancy to favour the intermediate skier. Both Saalbach and Hinterglemm have nursery slopes near the centre of the resorts and for advanced skiers and snowboarders the biggest attraction is the possibility of high-speed skiing over long distances, concentrating on the steeper options that are available. There are some good opportunities for seriously steep skiing across the valley on the north-facing slopes such as the long black run from Schattberg Ost back to Saalbach.

Likewise the un-pisted and often heavily mogulled Zwölferkogel-Nordabfahrt down to Hinterglemm. Little of the SkiCircus is flat, making the area very popular with snowboarders. Favourite spots tend to include Bernkogel (Saalbach), Asitz (Leogang) and Hochalm (Hinterglemm). Towards Leogang there's a Fun Park on the Talstation Asitzmuldenbahn run, and another Fun Park close to the Unterschwarzach lift at Hinterglemm, which include big air, goudel, wellenbahn, straight jumps, kinked rail, kinked box, straight rail, straight box and boarder cross.
